I am getting ready to build some outdoor pens for my coturnix. How much space do you put in the shelter area?

I was really asking how much space per bird in the shelter. mike no set amount if your pens are 4x8 then i would make about 2x4 a shelter that is why i asked how big the pens were

Hello All, What I did was I took post's ran 3 of them 12' apart. In each one i make it solid with a door (this is the north side). Then I went 12' long 3x had 3 12' X 12' so far. Then I went 10' 3x on each of those. each pen is 12'x22', here you got 3. I took 2x4's ran @ top side, then along @ bottom side. then 1 24" along the middle. i covered roof with 12' & 10' sheet metal. Take 24" chicken wire fold it in 1/2 nail along bottom 1' up with wire 1' of wire level with ground "varmit proof" . I then cover the sides with 12' & 10' x2' of sheet metal along bottom. Then use 4' chicken wire around top to middle. Run 1 solid roll the 22' for 1 side then keep rolling it along the back go 36' (3 12' pens) to the end then keep rolling out your wire the 22' side. Do each middle sec. 1st so you can stretch it good. It's what I built for my on ground colony coturnix, Tx A & M's, jumbo browns, and myabout 20 week old bob's. GOD BLESS Tommy
