My husband and I are raising birds to naturalize at our ranch. Our first batch of Chukkar are 9 weeks old and flying well. Are they old enough to release? We have plenty of cover/water/feed on our place.
Last fall we released pheasant that did not naturalize well. We released them in Oct. They were fully mature beautiful birds but I think we grew them out too long in the pens..

Should be OK to let loose now. Pick a morning with a good weather forcast. Near water as well.

The best age to release birds is around 6 weeks , full grown birds have almost no chance of survival
